SOUTH BEND, In. (November 21, 2018) – On Saturday, December 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 16 at 2:30 p.m. at the Morris Performing Arts Center, the South Bend Symphony will ring in the sparkling holiday season with its annual “Home for the Holidays” concerts. Under the baton of Alastair Willis, the SBSO and American Tenor Benjamin Brecher will perform the sounds of the season in South Bend’s favorite holiday tradition.

The American tenor Benjamin Brecher is a veteran of the stage and has gained great acclaim with his many performances on both the opera and concert stages. He has appeared with The New York City Opera for over thirteen roles, performed over fifty operatic roles at many of the world’s most prestigious venues and sung with over forty orchestras spanning from New York to Tel Aviv.

This year’s thrilling concert program will feature both classical and contemporary holiday favorites. Timeless classics such as the We Need a Little Christmas and Ave Maria will be paired with popular tunes including Believe from The Polar Express and Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride to thrill audiences of all ages. This special program features several on-stage collaborations, including the Notre Dame Children’s Choir, South Bend Symphony Festival Chorus, and dancers from the Sproi Rince School of Irish Dance, making this a real community celebration!

The Sunday matinee performance will also feature a Holiday Instrument Petting Zoo – a fun pre-concert activity for families. Come an hour before the concert to play your favorite instrument and meet Santa and Mrs. Claus!

“The SBSO’s Home for the Holidays concerts are the perfect opportunity for our entire community to celebrate the Holiday Season through music.”
-Agnieszka Rakhmatullaev, SBSO Executive Director
