The South Bend Symphony Orchestra, under the artistic leadership of Music Director Alastair Willis, brings audiences an exploration of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovskys iconic 1812 Overture through a special broadcast airing! The broadcast offers audiences an inside look at the beloved work ahead of the South Bend Symphonys performance of the 1812 Overture at its annual Shein Trust Salute to Freedom concert.

With lively narration and musical highlights, audiences learn about the overture’s famous melodies, bold brass, church bells, and dramatic cannon sounds. The event ends with the South Bend Symphony Orchestra performing the full 1812 Overture showing how great music can still inspire and move people today.
