Maestro Willis’ signature series turns the concert into an experience—part performance, part storytelling. With an actor onstage and Maestro as your guide, you’ll hear Tchaikovsky in a fresh, theatrical way, from ballet sparkle and virtuosic violin to a blazing, crowd-pleasing finale.

This Season, we return to the very first Alastair Presents concert, “Tchaikovsky’s Circles.” This unique concert experience blends theatrical storytelling with some of the most iconic music of 19th-century Russia, exploring the life and times of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky through the perspective of fellow composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.

Alastair explains: “Tchaikovsky wasn’t a member of the Mighty Handful or the Belyayev Circle, but Rimsky-Korsakov belonged to both. Portraying Rimsky-Korsakov’s nephew, I interview my uncle about his friend Tchaikovsky and discover what set—and kept—him apart from these two influential groups of Russian composers.”

The concert also features music by Borodin, Mussorgsky, Glazunov, Lyadov, and Rimsky-Korsakov.
