Home for the Holidays with the South Bend Symphony Orchestra brings seasonal favorites, storytelling, and more with guest conductor Chelsea Tipton, II. Hear classic Christmas carols such as “Silent Night” as well as holiday classics like “Sleigh Ride” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”. Special guests Devin Desantis and Emilie Lynn join the Symphony to create a spectacular performance that creates memories for the entire family.

Chelsea Tipton, II, Guest Conductor

American conductor Chelsea Tipton, II, has won over audiences and critics alike with vibrant musicality, accessibility, versatility, and art education commitment. In his thirteenth season as Music Director of The Symphony of Southeast Texas and seventh season as Principal Pops Conductor with New Haven Symphony Orchestra. Tipton served as Resident Conductor of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra for seven exceptionally successful seasons and served as Associate Conductor of the Savannah Symphony Orchestra for four seasons.

This season, when not on stage at the Julie Rogers Theater in Beaumont, Tipton will be found guest conducting Greensboro Symphony Orchestra, Lake Charles Symphony, and the Greater Bridgeport Symphony Orchestra. In November, he will also be serving as conductor for a special concert with Pop artist Sting with his hometown orchestra, the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra. He will also be making his opera debut with the Toledo Opera in February, 2022.

A decided change of venue that spotlighted the maestro’s versatility occurred during the summer of 2011 when Tipton was chosen to accompany Sting on an extensive European tour. This tour covered 15 countries where Tipton worked with 19 different European orchestras; his task was to prepare the musicians for the concerts. Tipton rehearsed the orchestras and performed with Sting in concert in the Canary Islands, Granada, and Cap Roig, Spain.

As a sought-after guest conductor, Tipton has appeared with numerous major orchestras, including the Cleveland Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Houston Symphony, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana (Palermo), Dohnanyi Symphony Orchestra (Budapest), Atlanta Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, New Jersey Symphony, Brooklyn Philharmonic, Louisiana Philharmonic, Nashville Symphony, Memphis Symphony, and the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra among others. One highlight of Tipton’s career was Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner requested him to serve as the conductor for the Memorial concert celebrating the life of Former President George Bush on the steps of City Hall with the Houston Symphony Orchestra.

Devin DeSantis, has performed in Chicago area productions of The Three Musketeers, Seussical. CHICAGO: The Who’s Tommy (Jeff Award nomination – Best Actor in a Musical), Les Misérables (Jeff Award nomination – Best Supporting Actor in a Musical), The Little Mermaid, Hairspray (Paramount Theatre); Young Frankenstein, The Hot Mikado (Drury Lane Theatre); Parade (Writers Theatre); Side Show (Porchlight Music Theatre); City of Angels, Godspell, 9 to 5 (Marriott Theatre); Altar Boyz Chicago (Broadway Playhouse); Anyone Can Whistle starring Patti LuPone and Audra McDonald, The Most Happy Fella starring George Hearn (Ravinia Festival). BROADWAY/OFF BROADWAY: The Radio City Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes (Radio City Music Hall); The Magdalene (Theatre at St. Clement’s). EDUCATION: BM in vocal performance, Northwestern University. DeSantis is a resident guest artist with the Colorado Symphony, a lead singer with Bluewater Kings Band, and a member of The Four C Notes – the Midwest’s only tribute band to Franki Valli and the Four Seasons. He is the associate artistic director/co-founder of Chicago Artists Chorale.

Emilie Lynn, Vocals

Emilie Lynn, actor and soprano, portrayed Christine in the world tour of The Phantom of the Opera. She has also performed in Chicago area productions of Mary Poppins, Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Beauty and the Beast, Hair, The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, Brigadoon, All Shook Up, RENT (Chicago Regional Premiere), Sunday in the Park with George, Hello, Dolly!, A Little Night Music, Up the Down Staircase, The Pirates of Penzance, The Wizard of Oz, The Music Man and more.
