South Bend, IN — The Community Foundation of St. Joseph County presents the South Bend Symphony Orchestra and Chris Wilson Community Play Along Concert at the Chris Wilson Pavilion in South Bend’s Potawatomi Park on Sunday, August 16, at 6:00 p.m. The concert is free, open to the public, and designed for all ages!
The evening will feature Broadway favorites, movie music, classic orchestral pieces, and Americana, offering something for everyone.
The concert begins with music from West Side Story, arranged by Mason, then continues with Aaron Copland’s uplifting Variations on a Shaker Melody and Leroy Anderson’s lively Blue Tango.
“We love bringing the community together for music,” said Rose Meissner, President of the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County. “It’s a shared summer moment, and a memorable opportunity for local musicians to play along with our outstanding South Bend Symphony.”
“This program captures the spirit of summer: joyful, nostalgic, cinematic, and celebratory,” said The Symphony’s Executive Director Steven Haines. “From Broadway and Hollywood favorites to timeless American classics, audiences will experience music that is both familiar and thrilling performed live by the Symphony.”

Now in its sixteenth year, this concert is presented by the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County, with additional support from South Bend Venues, Parks and Arts, and WVPE-FM 88.1.
In collaboration with the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County, the Symphony is pleased to announce the annual Play Along Concert at the Chris Wilson Pavilion. More details about the Play Along, as well as the registration form, will be available at www.southbendsymphony.org.
