SOUTH BEND, In. (February 22, 2019) – On Friday, March 1st and Saturday March 2nd, the SBSO is thrilled to present the following three events:

SBSO Concert: Saturday, March 2nd at 7:30 p.m. at the Morris Performing Arts Center, the South Bend Symphony will perform Paganini Variations, the third concert in its Jack M. Champaigne Masterworks Series. This performance will spotlight internationally acclaimed pianist and Martin Endowed Professor of Piano at IU South Bend Tanya Gabrielian.

Tanya Gabrielian – described by London Times as a “pianist of powerful physical and imaginative muscle”- has performed on four continents and with acclaimed orchestras around the world. She is the winner of multiple international piano competitions and was appointed as the the Martin Endowed Professor of Piano at Indiana University South Bend last year.

On the concert program are Estacio’s Spring’s Promise, followed by one of the most popular works of the piano repertoire, Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. The program concludes with Brahms’ Symphony No. 1, considered a pivotal symphonic masterpiece.

Happy Hour with the Symphony: The SBSO presents the third event of the Happy Hour with the Symphony Series – Happy Hour with the Maestro. Come join us for a fun evening of music, drinks, and good company with Maestro Alastair Willis and Pianist Tanya Gabrielian.
The event takes place at Granada Room in the Morris Performing Arts Center from 5:30 – 7:30 PM. Tickets are $20 and include light refreshments, drinks, and an open rehearsal with the SBSO! The Happy Hour with the Symphony Series is presented by Gibson Insurance, and sponsored by Baird and United Federal Credit Union.
SBSO Open Rehearsal: SBSO invites you to an Open Rehearsal to experience how the magic of an orchestral concert is created. The event will take place at the Morris Performing Arts Center from 7:30 – 9:00 PM and is FREE and open to the public. Come see your Symphony with Music Director Alastair Willis prepare for the Paganini Variations concert featuring pianist Tanya Gabrielian.

• SBSO Concert: Tickets for Paganini Variations start at $19 and are on sale at The Morris Box Office, by phone at (574) 235-9190 or online at www. morriscenter.ticketforce.com. The Morris Box Office is open Tuesday– Friday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets for full-time students are $10 with photo ID.

• Happy Hour with the Symphony tickets are $20 and include light refreshments, drinks, and an open rehearsal with the SBSO! They can be purchased at www.SouthBendSymphony.org, or by calling (574) 232-6343.

• SBSO Open Rehearsal is a FREE event, open to the public, and no tickets are required.
