The South Bend Symphony Orchestra will pay tribute to the legacy of groundbreaking leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a program featuring works by African-American composers and sensational young violinist, and the Junior Division Winner of the 2015 Sphinx Competition in Detroit, , Hannah White.  The concert will be the culmination of a city-wide day-long celebration and will take place on Monday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Morris Performing Arts Center.

This annual commemoration of the civil rights icon will be a celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life, his tireless efforts in the name of equality and the lasting impact of his work, which manifests itself each day in the actions of Michiana residents and businesses, nearly half-a-century after his death in 1968.

Fifteen-year-old guest artist Hannah White already is a violin phenomenon, boasting a resume filled with well-reviewed solo performances with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Madison Symphony Orchestra and the Sphinx Symphony Orchestra among others.

The concert will also feature the South Bend Symphonic Choir, IUSB Chorale, and IUSB Chamber Singers, led by Dr. Marvin V. Curtis, and SBSO’s Music Director and Conductor Tsung Yeh.
