Development Associate

Role:
The Development Associate will work closely with the Director of Development to achieve annual fundraising goals. Primary responsibilities include all phases of gift management – recording donations, donor acknowledgements, gift reporting, and data management. The Development associate will also oversee the execution of direct mail campaigns, manage aspects of annual fundraising events, assist with managing grants and fiscal year task calendars, and will represent the organization professionally at concerts and events.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
E 35% Gift management, including processing donations, sending acknowledgement letters, managing data, and creating and running reports.

E 30% Executing the annual direct mail program which includes running reports, populating mailing lists, working with outside vendors (printers) for mailing production.

E 15% Assist the Director of Development with the planning of fundraising events

E 10% Attending concerts and events to meet and greet donors

E 5% Serves as staff liaison to the Board’s Development Committee.

N 5% Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:
1. The successful Development Associate will accurately maintain database records and process gifts weekly. This includes gift entry and gift acknowledgements.

2. The successful Development Associate will accurately execute the annual direct mail campaign which includes excellent organization and communication skills. The mailings should occur according to the outlined timeline.

3. The successful Development Associate will exhibit excellent organization and communication skills by assisting with the organization of several small annual fundraising events, and with the largest annual event, the Gift of Music gala.

4. The successful Development Associate will have a strong rapport with our small staff.

5. The successful Development Associate will be a collaborator, a creative partner, and a problem-solver.

6. The successful Development Associate will be an overall excellent communicator and will be both process and people oriented.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience – Related experience in not-for-profit fundraising preferred. Experience managing data, and a high-level communicator. The successful Development Associate will be a team player. Prior experience working with a small team and multi-tasking are valuable assets.

Education  A college degree or equivalent experience is required.

Interpersonal Skills
Work involves personal contact with others and the successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

They must be an excellent listener and have a patron-first perspective in their work.

Prior experience working with donor records/database preferred. Especially Salesforce systems including Patron Manager
